For many decades Goebel has been developing, manufacturing and marketing web presses for the production of banknotes, stamps and various kinds of security documents. The increasing importance of this sector is due to the increasing demand for security printing and also to the fact that such documents can be produced on web presses, which have considerable advantages over sheet-fed presses and have always been successfully represented on the market by Goebel.

Security printing products that are to meet the requirements of the market need to be manufactured in such a way that they can serve their purpose.

It is obvious that the processes involved in the production of security docu­ments – and, due to their value, above all banknotes, cheques, bonds, shares, loans, etc. – need to meet the most rigorous security standards to fight the counterfeiter. These security standards apply, of course, both to the paper and the print.

Goebel presses for manufacturing security documents such as bonds, shares, cheques, etc. are similarly designed. The difference lies in the final units of the machines rather than in the printing techniques.

Similar technology is also used for the web presses designed to print stamps and other small security documents, which Goebel supplies worldwide. In general, these presses are equipped with perforating units for the standard round shape hole perforation of stamps and/or with rotary die cutters for self-adhesive stamps. All printing techniques imaginable for producing stamps are applied: gravure, offset, intaglio and combinations of these techniques. Goebel's first press combining different printing techniques was built as early as 1929.
